In the final video blog of the series, Gautam shares real life examples of organisations that are leveraging social networking. Not well known global mega-corps but trend-setters closer home that are using social networking to transform their own businesses in unique and innovative ways.
The first example is that of flydubai, a low cost budget airline, which has implemented internal social networking in a unique manner to help train employees on the importance of keeping costs low, and share their learning with each other. There is an ongoing conversation on flydubai’s corporate social network on this core focus of the company. Employees constantly ideate and share suggestions on the platform on how the company can keep costs down and at a minimum. The best ideas rise to the top, are noticed and get implemented.
What a terrific sense of empowerment. Instead of following top down directives, the employees own the process of cost cutting!
The second example is that of IndiaFirst Life Insurance, a company that is leveraging their corporate social network to engage with not only their employees, but also with an extended sales team of 50,000 agents. The company is using the tool effectively to communicate, share and get feedback from the field before a new product is launched in the market. As the agents in the market are closest to the customer, they are likely to know best what product features would or would not work. Therefore, this forms a channel for valuable engagement with extended partners such as agents to get a real time pulse of the market.
There must be many interesting examples of how organisations are using social networking to drive business value with internal and external stakeholders. Have you witnessed any interesting examples? I invite you to share them with us here.
