Only a person with strong determination and the will to bring a difference to the society can take up a challenege as big as this man has accepted in the video. Very inspiring.

I truly want to vote in favour of your context citing the current example of ANNA HAZARE, who has given the right direction by innovating the MAHATMA GANDHI ideas of hunger with peace n harmony in a different way and applying to a larger scale with the wider perspective keeping all the information transparent to the public and his followers. He is a true example of Authentic Leadership i believe.

I am in support of the transparency within the organization and sharing the information with the employees who are like the family members and directly or indirectly are the shareholders . But there is some sort of confusion in my mind with this approach as it gives me the feeling that ,at some moment of time isn't its beneficial to hide some problems persisitng in organization as the employees can get panic and stop focussing on work or daily routines. Its like parents hiding some family problems from the children so as to not let them effected mentally and doing the ground work to overcome it. its just a personnal feeling that sometimes the authentic leader shouldnot be transparent based on the situation and cycology of thier followers

Dear Vineet Authentic Leadership is the acknowledgement and the ability to lead Change / Transformation - from the self to the society. Fundamentally, leaders need to carry conviction to make the change / transformation they "facilitate" from those who are slower to grasp the nuances of the external stimuli. In the process, they prepare themselves and society to face the consequences of their action with equanimity. I completely agree with you that Leadership is a "personal way of life". The impact of the meaning of Leadership has been often lost in the myriad of theories and lectures on Leadership. No leader ever sets out to change the world. He / she experiences a need to gravitate to a newer position as a consequence of better sensing and intelligence and therefore think about the implications of the status quo and design a future experiencing a departure from the present. That articulation leads to a conviction that others must also come to a similar realization to derive the benefits of the future state and hence the unselfish motivation to express to others what, why and how they must change to meet the implications of the "issues resulting from the current state". Be it the designated leaders in government or organizations, they constantly find themselves in trouble and economic mess not because someone else did that to them. They are fundamentally abrogating their responsibility to foresee the future from the present; lead their enterprise departing from the present into the future. They are more prone to departing from the past into the present. Authentic leaders are never about discrete events. They are someone who weave a process and facilitate people to play an effective role in that process; changed, renewed and / or transformed to deliver newer better result to Internal and / or External Customers. Congratulations Vineet for taking on the impact of true leadership and practicing that at your enterprise level at HCL and creating awareness at a global level through forums such as World Economic Forum (WEF). You are among the few corporate leaders in India who is unafraid to be directly involved and participate in the social revolution and carve a future for the people you are directly responsible for. All great leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi or Nelson Mandela or Suu Kyi do this. And hence, they create a chain of leadership that cascades in the society / organization to effectively energize their organizations to "Sense and Transform / Change" Continuously and Concurrently to "Life as Usual". My best wishes for your continuing great work!!!

Though sounds cliche couldn't stop myself from saying that this is a great thought from a true leader. I do agree that the 'authentic' leadership is not about skill its a character of the person. Something that can't be taught but only be perceived. One other example for such leadership I see is in current Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni. Though coming from a small town he has demonstrated high quality leadership. He is successful because he is honest and transparent. He leads by example, for instance coming up in the order in the World cup finals against Srilanka and taking the challenge heads on. When we appreciate such leaders we also shouldn't miss out in appreciating the people who spot such authentic leaders and allow them to perform.
