Life Stories 30 : Work More? Or Live More?

Work More? Or Live More?

This morning, on my way to the office, I saw a man getting a haircut under a tree—completely at ease, soaking in the moment.

Meanwhile, I walked into a high-stakes meeting on strategic initiatives for 2025—big goals, big responsibilities.

Yet, my mind kept drifting back to that scene.

At one point, I blurted out, "I just saw someone getting a haircut under a tree."

My team laughed, thinking I’d lost it.

But the thought wouldn’t leave me. So instead of ignoring it, I did something unexpected—I left the office, drove back, and got a head massage under that same tree.

And it was worth every second.

I returned feeling lighter, sharper, and with a bounce in my step.

The Debate About Working More? It Misses the Point.

The real question isn’t how much you work. It’s how fully you live.

We glorify long hours, back-to-back meetings, and being always on. But an unlived life drains energy, creativity, and purpose.

The best ideas, the biggest breakthroughs? They don’t come from grinding endlessly. They come from a mind that is alive, engaged, and free to experience life.

Work more if you want. Work less if you can. The number doesn’t matter.

What matters is whether you’re making space for moments that make life worth living.

Today, I didn’t just get a head massage. I took back a moment of my life.

And by the way—Shahrukh gives the best head massage ever. Grateful he kept going till I almost fell asleep.
