LEARNING AI AND TEACHING AI: THE EDUCATION SYSTEM IS GETTING IT

We are teaching children how to use AI the wrong way.
Banning AI in schools is like banning calculators in the 90s, it is used secretly rather than openly. The future workforce needs to master AI, not fear it. But schools are still focused on rote learning rather than teaching students how to question AI, verify its outputs, and apply it to real-world problems. Banning calculators was good as it made us thinking, however banning AI is counterproductive as the thinking comes after the AI output reaches your hand. Our focus has to teach to think and now how to use a tool and depend on it to think for you.

Finland is ahead in AI education—teaching students how AI models work, how to detect bias, and how to use AI responsibly. The result? A workforce that isn’t just consuming AI but shaping it.
What should you do? If you are a leader, push for AI literacy in your company. If you are a parent, teach your children not just how to use AI, but how to think critically about it. The future belongs to those who learn to think with AI, not just use it.
