The architect of HCL’s journey from a struggling $700-million company to a $4-billion IT role model says to succeed you have to be a paranoid and ‘perpetually unhappy company’
Almost 30 years ago, in 1983, the new batch at XLRI-Jamshedpur had just settled in for its first day in class when 50 adivasis stormed in and ransacked the classroom before vanishing into thin air. None of the students were hurt, but the professor, Father Edward McGrath, lay in a pool of blood.
The world has changed, whether you like it or not. The faster you accept it and faster you convert the threat to opportunity, the better it is, says HCL TechnologiesCEO Vineet Nayar .
